From organizational perspective
Let be people who they are. Accept as they are.
If you want to see more innovation, more thinking, more creation to happen in the world, accept them (love them) as who they are.
Don’t try to test and compare. Because, each individual, bring something different to your talent pool.
A 15 minutes test with 50 questions can really tell you what that individual is capable of? I doubt.
A 15 minutes interview can tell you what that person is really capable of? I doubt this too.
What are we trying to test on here, Speed or Accuracy or Capability? I am still confused about it.
For example, in today’s world of Google trying to test on verbosity (verbal capability) of an individual looks like foolishness. Any time test for that matter.
Because, right now….. it takes less than half a second to know the meaning of a word. May be lot less than that with lot of virtual-assistants out there…
I am not trying to say here hire everyone.
Example, depending on what posts people are applying try to understand and assess them on that. For example, for managerial level some scenario based questions with no time pressure.
Example, for a programmer test on some programming languages depending on the level of applicants applying.
Have some 3 months observation period for every individual you hire. So that even employees can think it over that….. is this a good decision to be here or not?
Final thought, Instead of constantly judging love your employees for who they are so that they don’t leave you.
Eggplant is an eggplant. A carrot is a Carrot. One is a plant vegetable. One is a root vegetable. But both come under category vegetables doing their jobs. Well, which one is better? To be healthy both are equally important.
Unless for some specific reason, Doctor (or for some reason) has given advise not to eat one of them or both of them.
Universe has blessed us with lot of talents to each individual that are not similar in each individual.
Let us think it rationally on this more.
More on Judging
The more you judge the less time you have to love someone.
The more you judge the more time you lose in judging others.
The more you judge the more resentment towards someone.
The more you judge someone the more you attract negative energy towards you.
The more you judge, the blind you become to see what good/great qualities the others have.
The less you judge the more people will start loving you for that.
The less you judge the more time you have to love others.
The less you judge the more relationships you can form.
The less you judge the more positive energy you can spread on to others.
The less you judge you can see what good/great qualities that others have.
Instead of constantly judging love your employees for who they are so that they don’t leave you.
Wow true
Thank you Suryakala. True. I guess being yourself professor in University, you might have observed this in your journey too.
We nip the individual talents entering into our high built castle walls only permitting who can ride on fast horses. That means recruiting one kind of resources. Leaving the rest.
If organizations wants talent .. they need to open those heavily guarded rusted castle thoughts. It should always be win-win. 😊
