Conversation with A Kid – 2

The giving of love is an education in itself.  — Eleanor Roosevelt

Mom: Hey…don’t play with that cigar lighter. Give it here…sometimes it is dangerous. You are not supposed to play with such things.

Kid: Mom…I know.

Mom: No, give it here.  I will place it in a safe place…

Kid: Oh…Mom, you are overreacting.

Mom: Hmm…

After some time she heard screams…she ran and saw the kid in flames. She immediately without a thought tried to douse the fire.

(After a few days of coming back from the hospital. The kid lying on the bed…)

Kid: Mom…it is too much pain…

Mom: Poor thing. A few more days…you will be fine. You will be up and running and playing and screaming again… with all your energy.

Kid: Mom…you know, I cannot even smile. Mom…you know I did not do all this on purpose. It just happened on that day.

Mom: Hey Kiddo, I understand. It happened by accident. That is the reason I did not say anything to you until now.

That happened because of, a little bit of your playfulness, a little bit of being innocent about fire,  lots of ego thinking what will happen to me…fire can do nothing to me and a little bit of being adamant. All these elements on your mind played the role in this accident.

Kid: Oh…Mom thank you so much for understanding. Show me your hands…Mom. I am so sorry Mom…because of me even your hands are burned…(tears running through the cheeks)…I will not do it again Mom…

Mom: Hey…Hey don’t cry…It is ok…anything for you. I love you. I’ll be fine in a few more days like you…You know I am not saying don’t play games…don’t be wild…what I am saying is don’t do things that engulf you completely…you have to be alive to do things.

You have lots of future out there. Who knows who can become who in this world? You know tomorrow you can be a savior of this world. You might be the president of your country. You might be a great innovator or great scientist or a Doctor who might save humanity…For that your heart, mind and soul should be alive…not too scarred.

In one word I ‘care’ about you. In one sentence I want you to care about yourself.

Kid: Mom…I understood.

Mom: I am glad you understood (smiling). Now…I want to see your mischief as soon as possible.

Kid: Oh…Mom…I told you I cannot even smile…

Mom: Haha…you will be ok…now…I am just call /shout away if you need anything. Don’t hesitate to call me even if it is midnight if you need anything. Sleep well. Good Night.

Kid: Good Night Mom. I love you…

Mom: Love you kiddo…
