Epitome of Love
Epitome of love
A love story…
He is Shiva (him)
She is Parvathi (her)
She never met him…
But…she falls in love with him
She doesn’t want to marry anyone, except him
She does immense penance for him, for years
Finally, he comes for her
And, asks her, why do you want to marry me?
She says, I like you, because you are a power house of knowledge
And, you are the Aadi (The beginning, The first, The most important) guru to this universe
What more do I need to see in anyone?
He smiles and says…
You know… I live an austerity life in these mountains
And, I don’t even have a house
You being a princess it might not be easy for you
Do you want to go through all these ordeals?
She says, do you think I did not know all this
When I did immense penance here
For you in this forest all alone?
With heavy teary eyes she says
And, I only want to marry you…none else
As she turns around and when about to leave
He holds her hand and says…
Look at me, it is my responsibility to tell you who I am and what I am
And, I too only want to marry you…none else
I am fortunate and pleased to possess your love and devotion
And, he marries her
After marriage
He cannot live without her
There is no more…him without her
They live in equal partnership
He listens to her
She listens to him
She understands him
He understands her
He questions her
She questions him
They argue
Half of him is her
And, half of her is him
She is in him
And, he is in her
Parvathi is the heart of Shiva
Shiva awakens the soul of Parvathi
And, Parvathi awakens the soul of Shiva
One heart
One soul
One body

Note: They say that Lord Shiva and Mother Parvathi’s (Shakti) marriage is the first love story on this earth. There are many versions of this Shiva and Parvathi story in various Hindu scriptures. But the essence (The love story) is the same.
Am I religious? No. But a believer that every religion has something to say. Religions are here for a reason. In my opinion, religious books can be read like any other history books to learn something from those.
I know very little (not even a dot perhaps) of my own religion. Considering its mammoth-ness. I don’t even consider myself I can do justice in writing this. 🙂
Hinduism is intricate. Hinduism is deep. Hinduism is warehouse of knowledge. Hence, open to so many interpretations. And because of various versions and scripts it makes it even more overwhelming.
Hinduism and Hindu scriptures are not simple. We cannot sum up in one line like “If you serve me. I will serve you”.
It is like the coconut layers. To reach the sweet kernel one has to understand through these layers. For example, Hinduism, says nothing is waste (inept) on this earth.
Even a simple stone that is not useful can be carved into idol or into a form and worshiped.
This is something we can understand as that every human here on earth can become something and can offer something to this world when carved into. That is saying, anything can be learned.
Sometimes things said in those religion(s) might not fit into our present situation or circumstances. We have to learn or understand what to take and what to leave.
I feel in life every individual it is important to learn and respect (every) religions too like any other history.
