Dancing With a Stranger
On a Friday night
In a Dancing Den
Under the flashing lights
Stepping to the music
I am dancing out my heart out
And, this person came
And, said hey, I said hey
We started to step together
While we were immersed in dancing
He suddenly said, I Love you
I looked at him, with an annoying face
And, with my angry eyes
After, a few moments of ignoring
I moved away from him
Dancing all alone, avoiding
After, a few minutes
He came over and joined me again
I thought, hmm…doesn’t he understand
He said Hey, you know…
Your dancing is beautiful
The way you move is awesome
Being polite, I said, Aha…thanks…
He said, Hey, still angry on what I said
Aha… of course, I am
Sorry, about that
You know, I am a gentleman
I said, Aha…every man thinks
He is a gentleman on this earth
He said, haha…you are generalizing there
I said, haha…glad, you laughed it off
Dancing together
I asked, can you say that to a stranger?
On a dance floor whom you did not meet?
He said, why not? What is wrong?
I said, in my opinion, that is not appropriate
He said opinions can differ
There was silence
This time tuning together
Stepping along with the music
We are dancing our hearts out
I said, wow this is so fun
You and I are matching
On every step and move
He said, see that is the reason
What I said…what I said earlier
You know… there is no need
to match everything in love
We are able to dance
Together in rhythm
That means our hearts and minds
Are already matching
I said, Aha…
He said, come here…hold my hand
I’ll show you something new
I looked into his eyes
My heart tripped, jolted
As if some electricity
Passed through those eyes
He smiled, I smiled back
He said, hold my hand
I stood there standing
He said you have to trust me
Looking into his eyes
I slowly joined his hands
He, looking into my eyes
He took my hand
He said, come on game is on…
I said, whoa…I am a plain vanilla type girl
Sometimes I don’t understand things
I don’t know to play any games
You know…I don’t know much…
If I like…I tell…If I don’t…I tell
He smiled and said, you know
You just said so much to a stranger
And said…common
Then what are you doing
In this Dancing Den?
And, you are dancing beautifully
I said, I usually come here
To dance and after dancing
My heart out…I go home…
I don’t talk to any strangers…
He said if you don’t talk to anyone
Strangers will be always strangers
I said, Mmm…He asked
Do you still think we are strangers?
I looked into his eyes, I said
I don’t know…he smiled
He asked, hey can we exchange
The numbers…
I looked at him…
He said, smiling I don’t usually ask
Every other woman for
A number in these Dens
I smiled out…
I said my bye…
(After one hour)
I received a message
Had a nice dancing night today
Shall we meet next week?
Same time, same place
I replied back, same here…ok…

Note: A Fictional Narration
It’s stupid because I don’t even know her, but sometimes you see someone and there’s just this flicker. Like a light bulb that glows around the person, making them shine brighter than all the others. It’s not that they’re more attractive or smarter or funnier than anyone else. It’s just they have a combination of all the things that speak directly to you.” ― Jaye Robin Brown
